RULES for visitors in BIMR Hospitals

In line with prevailing standard practice in NABH accredited and established hospitals across the world for visitors in hospitals, following rules are to be adhered/ persuaded by all visitors willing to see patients admitted in BIMR Hospitals (including BIMR staff) with immediate effect :-

OBJECT for Rules

  • 1. Infection Control: ICUs have critically ill patients with weakened immune systems, making infection a major threat.
  • 2. Patient Rest: Constant monitoring and procedures require minimal disturbance.
  • 3. Equipment & Safety: Prevents interference with life-sustaining machines.

Key Rules & Restrictions

  • 1. Limited Hours & Numbers: Short, specific visiting slots: -

    • a. CCM: - 11.00AM -11.30 AM and 6.30 PM to 7.00 PM
    • b. Other ICUs/HDUs/GWs: - 10.00AM -10.30 AM and 5.00 PM to 5.30 PM
    • c. Maximum 2 visitors including attenders are allowed in each slot during visiting hours. However, it does not include attenders called by consultants for briefing.
  • 2. Hygiene is Key: Mandatory hand washing/sanitizing before and after visits; often requires wearing gowns, masks, gloves, and shoe covers in the ICU.
  • 3. Age Restrictions: Children under 10-12 years are generally not permitted due to infection risk.
  • 4. No Outside Food/Items: Outside food, drinks, flowers, and battery-operated toys are usually prohibited.
  • 5. Electronics: Mobile phone use is often restricted or banned in critical care areas; photography/videography is strictly forbidden.
  • 6. Health Check: Don't visit if you have cold, flu, or any infection.

OTHER IMPORTANT RULE: -

Although rules for visitor in CCM/ICUs are very strict as stated above, however in HDU, GW and private rooms one permanent attender can remain seated on a chair alongside patient’s bed. It also important to note that at the pretext of one attender visitors cannot be allowed by frequent change of attender. At the time of admission, the names of 2-3 attender shall be declared and should only be allowed to replace attender.
